Event Reports

Six trialists -- three locals and three international surfers -- will battle it out for the remaining THREE spots in the main event. Trialists will check-in at 2:30 p.m. at Padang beach and surfing will begin at 3 p.m. The confirmed trialists so far are: Makua Rothman (Haw), Takayuki Wakita (Jap), Rahtu Suargita (Bali) and Tipi Jabrik (Bali).

Immediately following the TRIALS, there will be a one-hour Expression Session featuring 12 of this year's invited surfers (including Jamie O'Brien, Rizal Tanjung, Bruno Santos, Oney Anwar and Laurie Towner). The Expression Session will be judged by legendary surfer/shaper Allan Byrne, and the winner will receive a classic channel-bottom pintail, hand-shaped by Byrne himself.
