22 August 2011, Denpasar, – The Third session of the Magic Wave
Surfing Championships (MSC) titled “You Never Surf Alone” was held on
Sunday, August 21 at Halfways on Kuta Beach.
The event kicked off at 8.20 am in the morning with small but glassy
and fun waves, just perfect for contingent of 53 groms that gathered
enthusiastically on the beach. There were six divisions in the day’s
competition, Under 14 Boys, Under 10 Boys, Push In Division Boys ,
Under 14 Girls, Under 10 Girls, and Push In division Girls.
The event was made even more festive with a fun face painting session
with DJ Doni and friends, one of the best DJ in Yogyakarta, And surfer
and also journalist Jim Walker with his slide guitar all adding some
additional kinds of entertainment to the day of surfing on Bali’s most
famous beach.
Rounding out the fun filled was the appearance of Marcelo, the
vocalist of the Hydrant and also Lifeguard at Kuta Beach. He strummed
a few tunes and chatted with the kids. Then he happily posed for
heaps of photos, making all the kids very stoked.
Magic Wave is planning another such event next month, so stay tuned
because you don’t want to miss out on another of these fun-filled
events.
