Rote Island-East Indonesia:  All five divisions saw action today in a full day of competition at the Rote Open 2010 presented by Billabong, starting off with the Coca-Cola ISC Women’s Division taking to the glassy 2-3 foot surf at 6:45 am.

After two heats of Women’s Division competition to determine the finalists, the Master’s Division (over 35 years of age) competitors did the same, setting things up for their final showdown tomorrow.

Next was the Rote Local Division surfing their semifinals heats, followed by Round 4 of the International Division.  Due to the strong wind and low tide, a 3 hour break followed to allow the tide to fill back in and bring with it the usual increase in swell size and consistency.

At 2:30 pm the competition resumed with the continuation of the International Division quarterfinals.  Wave conditions were challenging with frequent lulls, strong winds, and bumpy wave faces.  But there were enough waves pushing through to continue the competition, and with the last day of the event being tomorrow, it was realistically the only option.

The last division to close out the day was the ISC Opens, getting their quarterfinal heats in just before the sun made a brief appearance on its way down into the Indian Ocean.

Tomorrow will be the final day of the Rote Open presented by Billabong, with an exciting conclusion to the surfing as well as what is sure to be a memorable closing ceremony at Boa Beach.

The contest director has made the call for another 6:30 am start, so all the surfers have been told to stand by at Boa Beach tomorrow morning at 6:00 am.

Here are the lineups in all divisions heading into the final showdown for the $20,000 USD in prize money that is up for grabs tomorrow:
