GromSearch #5 Coming to Medewi on October 4th!

After traveling around Indonesia since February searching for Indonesia’s best groms in places like Lombok, Sumatra, Sumbawa, and West Java, the fifth and final regional event of the 2009 Rip Curl GromSearch will take place on the 4th of October when the Rip Curl GromSearch crew travels from Kuta up the scenic coastal highway to greet the frothing groms all lined up and ready to shred the cobblestone lefthand point break of Medewi in northwest Bali.

At stake for the Under 16 groms are the two remaining spots in the Rip Curl GromSearch National Final that will be held on October 25 at Kuta Beach, where the winners and runners up from the five GromSearch events will gather on Kuta Beach to compete for the ultimate prize of a Ticket to Australia.  The lucky winner will receive and all expense paid trip to compete in the Rip Curl GromSearch World Finals at Bells Beach next year….the chance of a lifetime!

In addition, the winners of each GromSearch 2009 event in Indonesia will be invited to participate in the Rip Curl GromSearch National Training Camp put on by the Rip Curl School of Surf during the week prior to the GromSearch National Final 2009. They will be provided transportation, lodging, meals and spending money, all courtesy of Rip Curl.

And remember, there is no entrance fee for participation in Rip Curl GromSearch events, and all contestants receive a Rip Curl goody bag and Rip Curl T-shirt. They are also given instruction by a local environmental group GUS (Yasasan Gelombang Udara Segar) on how to care for their environment, and given the chance to participate in many fun games as well as in the surfing competition.
