Quiksilver Opens New Jakarta Headquarters to Facilitate Expansion of Retail in South East Asia and their Global Sourcing Capability

28 June 2011, Jakarta-Indonesia:  The new Jakarta branch office of Quiksilver South East Asia operations and Quiksilver Asia Sourcing officially opened it’s doors in the Kebayoran Lama area of Jakarta on Friday June 24th. A clearly chuffed Quiksilver SEA CEO Paul Hutson had the honour of cutting the ribbon to open the doors in the ribbon cutting ceremony attended by a host of media, retailers, vendors, factory owners, team riders, celebrities and friends as well as Quiksilver Asia Pacific President Greg Healy.

“I’m very pleased to be here in Jakarta for such a significant event, as the opening of this new office represents Quiksilver’s commitment to growth in the South East Asian region.  From this office we can better support and expand our retail operations as well as broaden our sourcing capabilities in Indonesia and South East Asia, thereby also extending our global reach and product sourcing abilities,” said Healy.

The new office will house PT Quiksilver Indonesia’s design, sales, marketing and retail operations management and staff for Java and western Indonesia, as well as Quiksilver Asia Sourcing’s Indonesian management and staff. The office is located on Jl. Sultan Iskandar Muda No. 7 A-D Arteri Pondok Indah, Kebayoran Lama in Jakarta.

In addition to the ribbon cutting ceremony, speeches by Quiksilver SEA CEO Paul Hutson and Quiksilver APAC President Greg Healy were followed by a prayer and the traditional “Potong Tumpeng” ceremony (cutting of a yellow rice cone) by Healy, who gave the first slices to Hutson and Vice President of Quiksilver Asia Sourcing Andrew Lau.

“It’s great to see Quiksilver open it’s new office in such a prime location in Jakarta. The office represents the ability for the brand to capitalize on the growth of lifestyle fashion in an urban market such as Jakarta. The prime location for the office also signifies that Quiksilver is the true leading player within the region for young adult lifestyle fashion. We are very excited about the added support this will mean in the business we do with the brand within the Indonesian market,” said Anil Konidena, COO of PT. Gagan.

PT Gagan is one of Quiksilver’s partners for Quiksilver, Roxy and DC shoes stores in Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya and Bandung, one of the special invitees to join with Quiksilver in their office grand opening.  Other VIP guests included Chintra Jones, the owner of the Point Break retails stores, Wendy Intani Ang the owner of the Planet Surf retail chain and Agus Finardi, owner of the Absolut Surf stores.

From their new offices and with their loyal business partners, Quiksilver is geared up to take their business to the next level and set the bar to which all others will be measuring themselves by in the South East Asian region and beyond.
